Scott Wood - COI Canada - Since 1997, Missionary #59

scott-indexScott went on his first mission trip with COI in 1995 and from the moment he landed in Ukraine he knew that this was a ministry he wanted to be a part of.  Following his trip to Ukraine Scott felt God directing him into ministry with COI.  He and his family were missionaries with COI in 1997 and they served in the Czech Republic for almost three years.  Scott moved back to Canada in 2000 and began to minister to people in his own country.
In 2005, Scott began a journey into "disaster relief" which is still a large part of who he is today as a chaplain in the Billy Graham Association Program.  Scott is also a youth pastor that has a heart for teens, especially teens going through difficult times in their lives.  Scott believes in exposing his teens to missions and knows that COI provides a great avenue of ministry for them and others.

Scott is a husband, a father of three, a pastor, a missionary and someone with a compassionate heart for the hurting, abused and those in crisis. He and his wife Ruth serve in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Alex and Patrice Dmitriev - COI Ukraine - Since 1994, Missionary #54

Alex and Patrice Dmitriev are the COI base directors in Uzhgorod, Ukraine.

Alex grew up under communist influence and in a family that didn't believe in God. At age 10 he started playing hockey and immediately fell in love with the sport. Soon he was asked to attend a special high school to train to become a professional hockey player. He finished school just after the Iron Curtain had fallen and at that time many of the professional hockey teams behind it were also falling apart. He continued to play hockey in his hometown which is where he met COI missionaries for the first time. In March of 1993, they asked him to travel and play with the COI team on a hockey missions trip. After two weeks of being with these Christian hockey players, listening to their stories and hearing the gospel, he gave his life to Christ. He then decided to leave his hometown and become a full time missionary with COI in 1995.

Patrice grew up going to church with her mom in the small town of Selma, California. She decided to follow Christ at a young age. In school, she found out she loved to play sports and went on to play volleyball in college. In her last year of college, a friend encouraged her to go on a missions trip with COI to play volleyball and share her faith. That summer in 1992 she spent four weeks in Ukraine doing the things she loved most, traveling, playing volleyball and sharing her faith in Ukraine. It was at that point she heard Gods call in her life to become a full time missionary.

Alex and Patrice married in 1997 and continue to serve in Uzhgorod, Ukraine with their children, Sarah, Liza, AJ and Jakob.
